What footwear for climbing Mt. Rainier? Plastic/leather/hiking/mountaineering?
I'd go with a good pair of plastic mountaineering boots. They are made for mountaineering...regular hiking boots are not. Plastic boots are waterproof, warm, and offer a stiff sole for crampons.
