Is Garmont a good quality boot? What are some other really good quality water-proof hiking boot brand?

Oh, no you really don't want a heavy leather waterproof (god forbid) hiking boot. You want a light hiking shoe made of synthetic materials. With that you'll skip down the trails and your shoes will dry quickly if they get wet and dry overnight in your tent. 5-6 lbs of wet leather for a week + blisters or 2 lbs of dry mesh and nylon and no blisters. You decide. Your ankles aren't going to break unless you're accident prone. It's all a myth, bust it.
