It really wasn't raining hard on Monday morning. I probably didn't need to wear the new Unionbay rain boots I got on sale ($23.99, down from $59.99) at Kohl's.

But I couldn't help it. When I heard the forecast for rain all day, that was enough reason to slip my heels into a bag and slip the navy rubbers on my feet.

Exiting the car in my work parking lot, I suddenly felt rather silly. After all, the mere drizzle didn't seem worthy of the tough rubber exterior and inner lining that makes these boots so great.

I didn't really need to wear the boots. Well, so what. I wanted to wear them. Thankfully, I live in a country where clothing is often about form over function. It's the same reason I can wear a stocking cap in spring or scarf in summer.

It's a free country. I can wear whatever I want. And so can you.

Now, I'm guilty of pointing out others' strange fashion choices. A recent example happened when I spotted a young mom at the zoo in a mini dress and four-inch heels. I mocked her. I admit it. "Who wears heels and a dress to the zoo?" I asked.
