Should I buy a pair of Hunter Wellington rain boots?
Hunter Wellies are the best quality rainboots available, period. They are just extremely well-made and will last you a good 10-20 years. As a man, I'm not too concerned with the fashionable aspect of the boots, I just like that they not only keep my feet dry in heavy downpours, but they keep my pant legs clean & dry as well (If you've ever had to walk more than a couple of blocks in the pouring rain you'd come to appreciate a good pair of rainboots). And it's a very comfortable fit as well.
As a girl you're lucky because you have so many gorgeous colors to choose from (I wear a mens' size 12 so I only had a few options - I wound up getting a red pair from Zappos just so I could stand out a little on gray wet days - you don't see too many men in red rainboots!). I like the pumpkin, and I think the aubergine (really dark eggplant-like purple) are really sexy (they'd look great with a shiny silver trench coat if you had one). The yellow are just a classic rain gear color (particularly if you have a matching yellow rain slicker to wear with them), and the red are just a fun color in my opinion Color is really up to you, and your personality (as well as what you want to wear with them). But since you get a lot of rain where you live, it's well worth the investment in an expensive, but high quality, pair of rain boots. So get the boots, stay dry & have fun puddle jumping in them!
