These Boots Are Made For… Limping?
Them. Did my feet grow over the winter? Did the boots get even stiffer? Did I really buy a pair of boots that’s a half-size too small? All I know is, by now they actually hurt my feet. I’m getting some numbness in my toes the first couple miles we’re out, and even after the boots loosen up a little, I get pressure points. I can’t believe I backpacked 50 miles in these when I don’t want to hike five in them now. I’ve actually been considering wearing my Merrell sneakers to hike… When you’re avoiding wearing your hiking boots, that’s a sure sign you need a new pair.
So I’m in the market for new boots. I tried on a bunch at EMS on Club Day, but had no luck. I’ve tried Asolos, Vasques and Keens, none of which fit. My feet are pretty skinny (not narrow, but literally skinny), but long, which makes getting a good boot tough. I may try the EMS in Albany, since I hear they have a bigger selection. Otherwise, I think we may have to make a trip to the High Peaks so I can hit the Mountaineer.
